Tune up Drake B Line.
Pre tune using spot settings. Fine tune on antenna with about 10 watts.

I believe he said that he had tried another AC-4.? If not, that is
certainly the first suspect! Perhaps I have confused one of the other

Lou, if I did confuse this, definitely try either another supply or at

Thanks Doug I've had mixed emotions since I traded my Henry 6N2 amp for the
TR-6 station..
I got it from the original owner who's a non-smoker and the radio works great.
Thanks again,
John.

Had the same thing. It was the filter cap in the AC4 serving the Lower

I've been tracking Drake gear (and some boat anchors and other gear that I
might someday have in interest in) on ebay.
On the TR-6 I have 17 closed transactions in the spreadsheet. The Average
price is $581; the lowest price was $180 and the highest price was $950.

Hi Kevin,
I was very active on 6 meter AM in 57-59. I used a Globe Scout 680
with my HQ-140-X and an International Crystal 6 meter converter with
a 5 element Hy Gain beam on a 20 foot pole in my back yard and had
good success with it. My rig was pretty typical of the time, so if

Hi Lou,
Do what Garey once suggested to me, and which I continue to do here to
monitor the T-4X on my R-4: listen to your actual signal on the air, and NOT
the sidetone monitor...
It's amazing the tales that'll tell you, believe me!

I have a TR-6 (Serial Number 300) with very scarce Drake Noise Blanker, AC-4,
and Drake Speaker. I wonder how much my station would be worth??

I had the Hallicrafters SR-46A (seen here

Probably not a great rig for DX, but for local ragchews it was fine.
I had the two meter version also.

You might also consider Clegg equipment. The Clegg 66er is a decent AM
rig. The Thor 6 is even better, but be sure to get both the RF box and
the power supply/modulator.

Is the transmitted signal 'rough', or is it just the SIDETONE that is
rough??
You might try bridging C129 with whatever electrolytic you have

Kevin,
Drake made the TR-6. They are a bit hard to find, therefore very expensive.
They do, however, seem to work quite well and are good receivers. Heathkit

to be a good rig. Both will be "old in the tooth" and
