Sorry for delay. Been a couple of hectic days, hope to get to Post Office today
and maybe pick up the RV-75. Gary , the Drake CD guy was kind enough to e-mail
the RV-75 owner manual, There is a missing plug involved, perhaps only a RCA
plug?, and a small errata involving the model # of [lug unit
I have a TR-3 that I have gone over once, but it looks like I didn't
use it enough and a few gremlins have returned. One issue I originally
had were possibly marginal SSB filters.
I looking at the International Radio site (for other reasons) I noticed
they have new 9 MHz USB & LSB filters for a

The short answer is 'yes'. The IF frequencies are the same, (9.000
MHz), BUT there were at least two different impedance filters used in
the TR-3/4. The early 'soupcan' filters found in the TR-3 and early
TR-4 were 2.2k ohms in and out. The later 8 pole filters were 500 ohms

Hi Garey.
No, no sentimental value here... just looking to get the rig fixed up
to where it should be. I suppose I could always start "collecting"
TR-3s and get one (or more) good examples :-) :-)
I actually suspect the issue I'm having is one of alignment. Last time,
I went strictly by the ma
How often do you see failure in the filters of a TR3/4? Mike

Hi Mark,
I had the same thought 8-10 yrs ago, collect TR-3's and have some good
ones. I gave it up ;-( and sold all I had to one guy. The filter
response, in my experience, isn't as much of a problem as just one
having developed much more loss than the other.
The carrier xtal also does dri
Quite frequently in TR-3's and very early TR-4's with the "Soupcan"
filters. Rarely in the later TR-4's. (I realize that "quite
frequently" is not a quantitative term, but I've probably seen it in
more than half of the TR-3's I've had or worked on in the last 15 yrs.)

Hello About TR-3 Filters:
I have replaced the "soup can" filter in several TR-3's with this method,
however it is fairly major surgery for the ol' gal.
1. Removed the soup can and dis-assemble it, preparing the switch
(only) for the new filters.
2. Obtain a pair of the 9.000 f
Hi to the group,
Don't ask why, I'm already kicking myself.
Anyone out there have any of the + 24 V regulators that are used in the
TR7 power supply board.
Part is a TO-92 case Actual part number shown is MC78L24AC
That is a valid number and yes Mouser (says) they have them.
Have not looked

I am currently working on a TR-4 that seems to have one bad filter.
Works in one position and no signal at all in the other position. My
TR-4 seems to have 'blue' rectangle filters. I looked at the
possibility of using an InRad or waiting for a replacement. Is there
any chance of opening the can
