The "B" line receiver is very good, complete with all filters right out of the
box and should cost less than an R-4C. A stock R-4C is decent but with the
addition of optional filters and a noise blanker it is a better choice. You
want one or both of the CW filters (.5 and .25) and the
I agree about the use of "surplus" or NOS electrolytics. Don't use them no
matter how tempting. Just because they are unused doesn't mean they are good.
