Thanks Chuck. I've taken the cover off and the balun is perfect, plastic
wire spacers are as new, no sign of heat, wire enamel good as new.
Personally I've never even attempted 160M operation, the burnt 160M cap
would have never been used by me. FWIW, the cap checker says it's
capacitance is

Remove the balun and try again without the balun. Use low power to see if
there is a change. And, remove the balun and replace with a homebrew balun and
try again.
I did a test on 160 meters and the balun got so hot I could not touch it.
Balun damage is not restricted to 160 meters
I've owned an MN4C with B1000 for about 6 months, and really like this tuner.
Recently, the settings on reactive and resistive changed drastically, the tuner
insisted on being switched to the 40M inductance to tune at all.
