it is not excessive RF in your shack causing the PS-7 to go wild?

Did you try the TR7 with another power supply to make sure that there
is not some problem in the final or the output filter board causing

My PS7 has started acting up - shutting down at around 40 watts. I replaced
the 723 regulator chip and the tip31 chip with no change. I don't think
Hi Bill,
Check your line voltage. I have 4 PS-7s and if they don't see 120 to 122V,
they shut down when I am tuning up and that shutdown point is right at 40 watts
as measured on a Bird wattmeter.

Hi Again Bill,
If it is as low as 115V and the voltage selector switch is set at 120V, you
will definately have a problem. There is also a HI/LO selector switch on the
panel next to the voltage switch, but I am not familiar with the operation of
this function and would hesitate to advise you

Based on the PS-7 manual page 4, the 120 selection is for 108-132 volts
input. And yes I doubt that voltage that low would run the PS-7.
