please visit http://www.sis.com/support/driver/linux.htm in general most chips are supported since XFree86 3.3.6 which is required to run their Linux drivers. as far as i can see there, XFree86 4.0a is a requirement (we are currently apporaching X4.2.0) for their 630 / 540 family while running
