recompile the entire XFree server. Is it possible to get the PCI GART

This sf.net ema
even if I got good
3D, the 2D would still be as slow as I saw it (repainting, etc). Since I
use this machine as my desktop, it's the 2D that's most important. 3D is
a bonus, and I'd like to help test, but not at the cost of reasonable 2D
news.. ;o(
Well, at least there's a test for it in the kernel. Using USB just
hard-locks the system. But that's for a whole different list. ;)
Thanks for the info. Is there any way to tell if this LE chipset happens
to have magically fixed the of
ce (had trouble compiling up the driver the first time, my
fault). But a "rpm -Uvh --force XFree86-4*.rpm" did the trick. ;)

loss! (And unfortunately, the ati driver is REALLY slow for just
regular 2D stuff. I can watch things repaint, etc. Wasn't like that in
XFree86 4.1.0...)
What should I do next?

done on the Savage4 driver makes it sound like XVideo works for it, but
there isn't any DRI yet.
(I wish my Sav4 was HERE already and I could answer these questions
myself...)
