Hi, I'd recommend trying again with Tomcat 7 and Java 8. DSpace 5.x has some issues with Tomcat 8[0], and Java 8 is highly recommended by the Solr project[1] (which DSpace relies on heavily). Also, Java 7 has been end of life for a while now[2]. This would be a much more sane base configuration.
