service to improve interoperability it could be useful because you could

You can use the metadataStorage facility already in place in the SORL
statistics dspace engine.
You need to add some configuration to you dspace.cfg
event.dispatcher.default.consumers = *solrstat, *search, browse, eperson

Just for the record for others who have similar difficulties,
Rui/Sergio had to put this into dspace config:
webui.session.invalidate = false
Otherwise jspui in tomcat will keep creating new sessions.
