Still no cure, but I have got a working sample application from the
Cocoon site to model the problem. blockcontext: works in the sample
and I'll be comparing it to DS to see what the difference may be.

I'm hunting for some time to address this further. Until then it seems
an appropriate issue to get a JIRA issues created for, can you open
