Randy, Actually the problem was a chip on the bottom side of the motherboard had decided to blow its top. It must be a chip in the power circuit as the computer would run fine as long as the AC & battery were connected. You may now refer to me as, Looking for 2300 or 280 Mobo, Mike Randy & C

Is it possible to replace the motherboard of a 280c with that of a 2300? If yes, is it difficult? If yes, any advice beyond the obvious? Is the memory the same, for instance? The PRAM battery the same? What could I take from my 280 and put in the 2300? Is it possible to switch screens? (I ask a
