I found this to be true in OS 9.1. Once I downgraded to OS 8.6 and
installed the correct USB FireWire software from Apple, my Comet is
stable as bedrock.

combination. I did my own CardBus mod after much research. AFAIK it's
the MCE mod.

that you must insert the card after startup and eject before shutdown. Many
of us have a little applescript for ejecting both firewire and usb cards at

I have tried every possible driver combo on 8.6 and 9.1 and
firewire works - erratically.
I think you have to eject all cardbus cards when shutting down with OS9 as
well. Mine (OS9) will crash with any firewire or usb card inserted during
start-up.
Also OS9 works better than 8.6

Personally I prefer NS7 because I designed my web page using CSS for layout,
with no frames or tables (except for an actual table). NS4x has terrible

quote me on that. It should run OSX since there are already guys running it
on 2400s.
