My Vibroplex has the dit on the thumb and the dahs on the pointer
finger and so did another bug I once used.

That will work. Twist the two together and connect them to strap and
the center (tip) of the plug. Connect the shield to the base and the
shell and you should be good to go.

Norm, you bring up a possibility I never before considered. It IS possible I
was imprinted with a reverse dit-dah on my Vibroplex. I had always presumed
pointer finger for dahs, thumb for dits was "normal" and since these many years
I never used any other bug than my own, I've had no experience

the gound goes to the post that is connected to the base
do i just twist the rd and white together and attach to ther
post that is connected to the strap?
This is the problem I have. i can figure out most o

Steve, I obtained my first Vibroplex bug in 1961, quickly imprinted on it (hey,
I was only 15) - dah with pointer finger, dit with thumb. And there is no way I
could ever reverse this - lack of flexible brain power on my part. Thus, every
subsequent means I used to send code was contrasted with
Steve,
If this is a bug, you need only one wire and ground.
The one wire goes to the tip of a standard phone plug and the ground
goes to the outside of the plug.
If this is a paddle, you need a stereo plug. The dit lever goes to the
tip and dah lever goes to the ring. Ground goes to the shell.
I aquired my first vibroplex original key, circa
1963 at the Dayton Hamfest
I have made the necessary adjustments and
am now prepared to wire it up
I have an old stereo headphone wire (2 wires
and a ground but have no clue as to which post
which wire goes to
any help would be appreciated
