Yes, Charles, I'm giving the date to qtorganizer-eds transformed into
UTC (i.e. 3pm Local time === 3pm UTC). Now, all tasks.ics entries are in
UTC. But I guess we agreed that it is OK to have that. If not, eds
plugin must do sthing with the time.

a session, without having just installed any updates or anything. I was
able to (temporarily) fix it by running compiz --replace (i.e. I didn't
have to change any settings anywhere, just restart the window manager).

the lining up issue was with the wallpaper itself, rather than the grid
pattern in the unity-greeter.
The issue here is that the grid pattern is overlayed/calculated
differently from the unity-greeter and discrepancies are visible between
the two. (Mostly the starting offset of the grid.
