Do you have Online Search disabled? (System Settings Security
Privacy Search) If so then this is likely a dup of bug #1320539 (Dash
search of applications is randomly disabled when online searchs have

On up to date Wily running on a laptop, when a second monitor is hot
plugged in, the image on the laptop monitor is cropped so only lower two
thirds are visible and the second monitor shows a black screen with
occasional flashes.

On a vivid which was originally updated from Trusty and is up to date I created
a new user (via System Settings User Accts) and logged in as that user.
Clicking on Files opens a new icon in the launcher.

A workaround for the missing bookmarks is to is to unlock the nautilus shortcut
from the launcher and instead drag across
/usr/share/applications/nautilus.desktop and lock that to the launcher (in the
files view of that folder three items show as Files, it is the one that is
about 600 bytes
Unfortunately this fix has resulted in the loss of the right click
bookmarks feature of the nautilus icon in the launcher. For me at
least.

@Rachel what graphics chipset/card are you running? I know that someone with
nvidia graphics is unable to replicate the problem. You can run
lspci
in a terminal to see, it should have a line something like the one below, which
shows that I have Intel graphics

right hand display of a pair. That explains why it is not seen by more

Olibaf: the new driver is a great improvement, but it is still not good
enough I am afraid. For example, with the new driver the Dash still
takes about 4 seconds to show, coming up in several steps. With the
workaround setting MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.4 it comes up in about
than 0.5 seconds.
Could someone clarify exactly which package this is please. When I do

I have booted off a live Ubuntu 11.04 image and, with this old version
of unity-support-test get

Running /usr/bin/unity gives very similar output, but not identical so
attaching unity.txt containing this.
Also attached gnome-session.log which does have errors.
I am also seeing a very strange problem on the machine where I cannot

Can you explain what you mean by using the HUD to find an app? The HUD
(usually brought up by hitting Alt) does not find apps, it is used to run menu
selections.
Perhaps you mean the Dash (usually run by hitting the Windows (Super) key. But
then the comment about Gimp does not make sense.
