Having a separated role would be a bit of rework on the rest of the
stack (pulse, etc), so we should just use the role 'alert' for now (same
as ringtone, camera click, etc).

Please enable debug on pulse audio, retest, and give me back your
syslog. But please also save the timestamp when the dialog shows up, to
see if it was indeed pulse that got blocked or something like that.
To enable debug on pulse:
$ sudo sed -i 's/--start/--start --log-level=debug/g'
Actually no, just reproduced it, ignore my previous comment.

Remember that silent mode here is used only by the 'alert' audio role.
The volume slider should still show up when the active role is

Ideally the silent mode would just mean a mute for the 'alert' role, but

Public bug reported:
By design the indicator-sound is only storing/restoring the master
volume, not handing sink-port specifics.
Meanwhile we have pulse also storing/restoring the per sink-port values
once the daemon is started, but it gets reset again once indicator-sound
is started with the
On touch, as it is single-user mode for now, we could just let pulse do
all the store/restore handling, but that would possibly break the
desktop and the convergence model.
There is also another issue that the greeter would need to be able to
control the main volume independently, and that
Can you guys try to reproduce this issue after running 'powerd-cli

Just to understand if this is related with the device going into deep
suspend or not, as it's expected to be broken in case the device is
fully suspended (no support for hw alarms yet).
