I will ask againIS there a way to make this logging
program write to the hard after each contact?
You can type ALT-S after each QSO. Saving to disk does not happen
automatically.
If you have a crash, there MAY BE a way to recover your log. I
I am not a computer wizard, but is it possible to program an unused function
key (say F12) to execute: enter alt s sequence ??
That way you could enter QSO (from a spot) and write to disk with one
button.
That would be a neat solution. Just a thought.

My 2 cents is that an overall better solution is to keep your computer
on a small interruptible power supply (UPS). You don't need one that
will last that long (5 or 10 minutes is fine), and there are plenty of
small ones available from companies like APC (www.apc.com), Belkin
(www.belkin.com)
staples has an APC 200w, 350VA UPS on sale this week for $20 AR, with
free shipping...
I even use them on the answering machine to avoid having to reenter the time

Hi all
I have DX4Win ver 7.01 on 2 omputers, and maintain several logs on each.
My main F6EXV log is in the computer at the station (let's call it
computer 1) other logs like TO5FJ in another computer (computer 2).
I often want to save some logs from one computer to the other, and just
realized

Help me here if you will; I like the brice, but . . . .
All I see on Staples web site is APC's 210w 350VA at $80 and larger
more expensive units. How did you find your $20 unit?
What did you mean by AR?

Jim's explanation of DX4WIN Data Protection Strategies should be
required reading for DX4WIN users.
I have suggested in the past that DX4WIN add an option that when set
would cause DX4WIN to save (in the DXL file) each QSO after it is
entered without any additional user manual input. I have
Quite a simple solution, just needed to know ! or maybe I overlooked
that in the manual !...

Many thanks for the tip; and you to Jim, AD1C. I ordered two.
And now I know what AR means; you learn something new every day.
I don't know why the special doesn't come up when I go to the Staples
site directly. I even tried the weekly specials and the Presidents,
Day specials, but
Hey Glen,
As reliable as REC (REA) power is, even I have a ups on my dx4win
computer and the Ye Ole Icom 781. I have learned the hard way too. Now I use
the SAVE button a lot more too plus the export button to save the Q's to
another source.
I am using a APC 1000 unit.
Another thing I do:
Will that UPS shut down your computer for you, if your not there, and the
battery is getting weak?
Tnx, Bernie/WO2N.
