Strange comment indeed Ekiga (the service) as just an off shoot of Ekiga (the application), set up so that people have a choice of a free 'dial tone' provider. If you considered Ekiga as just one of many SIP providers you could argue that there are more SIP/H323 users in the world than Skyp

My personal thought, no, never. Atleast the way I know/work with it not. What ekiga is laking is a 'buddy list'. People like that, people want that. So what you'd want is incorporate the video/voice capabilities of ekiga in to pidgin. Then you have something that has a chance to compete with skype.

While I agree, it's not that difficult to understand - a friend and I both had exactly the same problems setting things up. After you go through the installation process, you kind of assume that you are getting registered, unless you read the small print carefully. It would be nice if it was real
