I finally did it and put a 330 in place of the 220 for R30. It made all the
difference. I can not get 2W on internal battery. My only concern is that on
external gel cell power I sometimes get max power of between 4 and 5 W Is this
too much power for the power transistor to handle? I could

Does somebody could tell me if there is a way to know who own a K2,
especialy the one living around me: all VE2 and VA2 here in the
province of Quebec.
I forgot the place, but I saw a list in the past, that people owning a
Elecraft product should put there name there

I'm helping a friend out who bought a 222 transverter from Elecraft but
wants to use it with his TS850S. The 850 will only go down to 9 watts and
the Elecraft wants a max of 8 watts, any help out there???

Why, from Elecraft, of course!
Elecraft now has the FingerDimple in stock. Take a look at their web
page.

I don't have an 850S, but you could try an external negative dc supply
(say -9v to 0v) on the radios ALC input. That should vary the output
from zero upwards.
Most of the Kenwood range have a Din socket transverter port on the rear
apron which outputs a couple of milliwatts or so although I
Art and all,
Tnx, to everyone who responded. I should have known Elecraft would pick up
on the finger dimple, but I was off the reflector for several months and
lost track of what was going on.
Excuses, excuses.

I build up my K2 for 2004 Field Day.
It's a great radio and I really like it, but except
for portable/field use the knobs, buttons are too
small for my meat hooks.
I've been a QRO contester (mainly because I like
running strings) and I guess I'm gonna sell my K2,

I've just added a new Tech notes article on our web page:

A Mobile computer for you K2

Jim has done a great job designing a small computer for use with his K2.
This article includes details on how it is all put together.

want short presses of the F1 to f4 buttons to trigger the K2's memory
keyer playback.
Yes. You don't even need to reconfigure the box to do it. Simply
install jumper W8
Hi
If the Kenwood has a low level transverter output then you can set up the
jumpers for 0 to 1 MW input. Another option would be to build a 50 ohm 3 db
power attenuator on the output of the Kenwood. There are several designs in the
back of the ARRL handbook. The low level out is the best way

The TS-850S doesn't have such an output, at least not according to the
manual that
I was so surprised Lyle that I have just downloaded the manual to see
for myself :-) Sure enough, no transverter port! It does have the
usual linear amp switching though including ALC input (remote connector
pin 6). I personally find this a more elegant solution than the
attenuator as well

Great story, Leigh. Being from Southern California, originally, I can
attest to how hard it is to work Europe from there -- well, at least
compared to how easy it is from the Eastern U.S. Doing it with a couple
of watts and an ad-hoc antenna is that much more rewarding!
