I agree with all of Ron's advice in this excellent post. Antennas don't have to
be perfect to
work.

Hello,
Since I moved back in June I have been working on my antenna in my limited
spare time.
I am installing a ground mounted Butternut HF9V and I am doing extensive SWR
testing.
If you are interested, please follow along at

Hi Daniel. If your apartment is of metal studs - beams & ect. you might
have a hard time getting out. I run into this same problem in a motel
room. What I have found that works is a dipole that uses 2 mobile
whips. I use a 4 inch PVC pipe (cut 3 inches) with 2 feed through 3/8
adapters & SO-
I've played with adding capacitance across C7 in my K1 to increase the
RIT/XIT range.
Here are approximate results:

+35pf +6.8/-6.7
+50pf +7.7/-6.4
+56pf +8.3/-6.3
+64pf +8.5/-6.4
The above was accomplished with relatively long lead lengths clipped

I have had excellent results from a 'stealth' antenna that consisted of thin
white wire running the top of the wall of the apartment. Yes, if you can get
outdoors, all the better. I used the thin white insulated wire sold by Radio
Shack. The white insulation matched the "apartment white" walls. Whi
hi folks,
I know live in an apt that i inhabit the first floor with no attic. I
would like to have an indoor antenna that would not attract too much
antenna from outsiders. the apt managers/site owners don't want anything
afixed to the outside porch. if you have a sattellite TV antenna you can

I have a KAT100 atu surplus to requirements and for sale. If anyone in the

I want to increase the RIT/XIT range in my K1 by paralleling C7 in the
VFO with additional capacitance.
As built, the range is approximately +4Kc/-3.4Kc. I'd appreciate pf/Kc
data. Goal is +/- 10Kc.
Thanks & 73,

When the K2 sees a bit more collector voltage, you have two things going for
you.
with more voltrage available, it takes less current for the same power (E x
I=W).
Also, with a bit more collector voltage, the PA is a bit more efficient,
requiring a bit less current for the same output power.

Hi All
I have a K1 with all options including the 40, 30, 20, and 15 meter four band
board (with blue trimmer caps) It also has a extra two band board set up for 80
and 17 meters. It includes the noise blanker, internal automatic antenna tuner
and internal battery option. It also includes the

Tom,
The SMD kit does sound interesting. Will know if I can
do it after I finish the Micro908 kit without major
pain... There was a column in one of the old QRP that
was a "Hints & Kinks" cartoon, that had some great
tricks for holding the SMD components down for
