I'll be backpacking with my K1 through the Goat Rocks Wilderness area in
Washington State this weekend. Will be operating Saturday evening around
6:00 Pacific Time on 40 & 20. Hope to work some of you.

Thanks for the feedback, Rob. I wrote the T1 assembly manual, so I keep an
eye out for comments.

case is melted or holed by touching it with a solde

The 245 is a good rosin core solder that a lot of builders have used just
fine, Bob.

Hi,
I am redoing a two element moxon square wire beam we used for field day by
making it a bit wider and adding a three element wire 20 meter beam
inside. The PVC tubes we used (18' at each end) are too heavy and bend too
much, so we are going to replace them with 21' fiberglass tubes. Can

Paul,
That trick works FB! For me it was "K" and I was 5 and my father would
say "dah dit dah" and I would say, "I don't know" and he would say "What
is the only letter you don't know?" and I would say "K". Go figure. I
told the story to my kids and that is how they learned K.

I have some very good information from Gary Surrency and from Don, W3FPR. But
the list will not take any messages over 10K bytes. At least that is what I

One and All I am mighty proud of myself. After 20 years not hitting a
lick on CW I discovered a few weeks a go I could copy 10WPM solid! Was I
ever depressed. With a K1 and a KX1 as my primary operating I knew I had to
do something fast. I ordered K7QO's CD through FISTS in Michigan and it i

I had a problem installing the socket for U1. It would not go flat against
the board, because it was apparently pressing against the row of relays

I'll just add in my 2 cents worth here too.
I've been using an Outbacker Perth Plus as a mobile antenna for the past 5+
years and have been VERY satisfied with the results. I run mostly 40 meter CW
while I commute but occasionally work 20 CW and even once in a blue moon SSB on
20.

Andrew,
There is a lot more than just the SPOT frequency that needs to be adjusted.
The manual settings will get you into the ballpark, and I would call your

If it does exist on HF as well, then I'd bet the BFO's possibly been set to
the opposite side of the filter (wrong sideband), and that he's selected a
