Good Evening Folks,
The two nets went pretty well. Twenty was much like it was yesterday.
We did benefit from a couple of relays from the KX1 folks. Thank you Ray
and Rick. There were times when signals were bouncing right over Tom and

Try taking a big fat toroid from somewhere and looping your coax
through that about 15 times at the antenna end and see how that works
for you. Alternately, put a bunch of clip-on beads on the coax at the
antenna end and try that. Alternately, try lengthening the antenna on
the 'hot' side as th

A balun may or may not help. and in any case, a balun or no balun is not the
answer to your situation - the 20 ft of coax is acting like an impedance

Sjoerd,
Why not drill the lower rear panel for the RCA jacks? The drilling template
is included with the K60XV instructions - or you can order a new (already

The RCA jacks are adequate and reliable at the power levels of the added

Well, disregard the last post. I found a viewer that let me use this laptop

Don,
Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle. You hit it right on the head. C73 is

That would indicate that you most likely have something wrong in the VFO Range
selection area - either a relay or a capacitor. Check C73 first because it is
common to all the failing bands and
I have FS a very nice basic K2. It was my main station rig up until last

I replaced it with a new K2. It has all of the connectors for accessories

John,
One should do CAL PLL first and then do CAL FIL, but your 40 meter problem will
prevent you from doing CAL PLL anyway - see your query about that for more help.

Don,
That may be part of the problem. I did the CAL FIL and then the CAL
PLL failed. Since I had just started setting this up I felt I wouldn't lose
much by powering up with 4, 5, and 6 depressed abd haven't gone back to do
it again. This may be why the frequency doesn't change (no lookup t
Everything was normal until I got to "VCO Alignment" in part 2. Prior to
filling out the "VCO Voltage Readings" table, I was told to change bands to
80 meters and set the VFO to 4000 kHz and to adjust L30 for 6 volts at R30.
Everything was great. Adjusting L30 felt good and lots of range but when
Carel,
You8 did not specify, so I must ask -- did you alos do CAL FIL before you
checked the result. It is necessary that you do both CAL PLL and CAL FIL
(for each BFO) after adjusting the refcerence oscillator.

I'm just now back in OKC and had a great time during TTF. It was an

long as your arm. The KX1 performed admirably but I have mixed feelings

Certainly we can help - the LO BATT indication is a sure sign that you
