Big thanks to Gary and Scott at Elecraft for pointing me in the right
direction. Turned out to be a control cable problem (between the back panel of
the K2 and the control panel).
Looks like the 100 watt amp and EC-2 setup are next!

I have noticed that the K2 Remote S meter display loses its signal when the
SEND CW button is pushed. The S METER button has to be pushed to reestablish
the S meter signal. Stray RF is not the cause since this will happen with the
K2 in CW TEST mode. Is this normal? Roy Morris W4WFBNo virus
Hey guys,
here are some thoughts about a front panel extension:
There is a special type PC out there called Mini-ITX ( also is known as
CarPC) - this type PC is extremely small in size, some models are powered
with 12V DC and in some solid state media (CF card) is used instead of a

As usual Don has provided the correct direct answer to your question.
However, I'm wondering if it would not be desirable to keep the tuner in the
path
to the amplifier. I believe it will assure a measure of additional filtering
for spur suppression and match the amplifier input exactly.
Hello all,
Trying to locate whomever posted info on the subject company, maybe a week ago.
I believe the post was combined with something else.
Wanted to see if they made a purchase from the company and how it went.
THANKS, Ken

Bill,
I trust you are not confusing sensitivity with loudness.
The K2 is designed for low receive current drain, and as such does not have
a powerful audio output amplifier.
Sensitivity is the ability to hear extremely weak signals, so pick the
weakest signal that you can hear with the TR7 and see

Yes, the K2 is easier than the KX1, just more pieces.
I let the 'XYL convincing' part to you, I offer no suggestions in that arena

While this is a fact, it is not under user control. Do not be concerned
about it. The firmware should reactivate the encoder when it is moved.

Dale,
You should find it in the Frequency Probe bag. It is about the same
diameter as a 1/4 watt resistor, but is much shorter - in fact it may look
like a round bead with two leads sticking out from either side.
Color will vary from one manufacturer to another, but the recent ones I have

Hi, Mike.
I only ever hear VFO "clicking" when there is a very strong adjacent signal.
For example one time I was using a 44ft doublet at 30ft at a campsite,
and I was operating on 30m, around 10.120MHz. Suddenly a very very
strong commercial RTTY station started up around 10.130MHz. Now when
Bill,
Set the menu to ATU CALP or ATU CALS to bypass the LC section of the KAT2.
Similarly with the KAT100, set it to ATU CAL.

Sjoerd,
Your first point about the low output from the crystal filter with an input
that is normal would indicate that either you have a crystal problem or the
filter is not properly matched.
Check T7 to see if it has the proper turns ratio (20:5), and the 5 turn
winding goes toward the crystal fi
Has anyone connected a RigBlaster with their K2 for SSTV or PSK-31? If
so, I'd like to contact you off-line as I have some questions. I've

hooked it up to the computer properly but no luck receiving, etc.
Thanks in advance f
Could someone please help me identify the 10 pF capacitor used in the

One problem with just using the K2's CAT commands is that you can't get at
AF / RF gains, also tuning via CAT is a bit on the slow side. As I don't
have a K2 I can't look at what would be needed to enable access to AF/RF,
but this will surely be something being considered for the K3 :-)

Hello All,
Thanks everyone, there have been a lot of good suggestions. Some of
them seem to move beyond a simple front panel extension into the realm of a
remote front panel, which also has been explicitly mentioned. Perhaps there
could be two different products here, a simple front pan

this means? And also how would you try a

Try tuning the ATU in a 50 ohm load.

Sjoerd,
If you look at the MC1350 data sheet, you will find the AGC characteristics
for operation wiht a 12 volt supply to the chip and that graph indicates
that the gain changes almost linearly from 0 dB to 20dB with an AGC voltage
change from 5 to 6 volts, or 10 dB for a 500 mV change, and the r
