I have my K2 connected to Writelog and can read frequency through Com
4 but I can't send CW from the program via the same port (this is the
arrangement I use for my FT1000MP). Is the K2 capable of this
function or do I need a different arrangement. As a Mac user for 20-
odd years, I'm

I just happened to have received a Rev. D KPA-100 a few days ago (I
have not started on it yet). There are new loose schematics in the
front of the Rev D manual with instructions to use them instead of
the ones already bound in the Rev D manuals - the loose schematics
are labeled Rev H,
Whoops! I should have added this when I was composing last night. I have the
KAT1 tuner
installed. At the present, my four band module is for 40, 30, 20, 15. I
plan on at least
operating on 40 20 for sure, and possibly 15 if the SWR isn't too bad.

David,
It will work if you can load it - and whether or not you can load it easily
is highly dependent on the length of the feedline. The switchable balun
will help you obtain a match.
I would suggest a flattop antenna cut near resonance at 30 meters and a
feedline length that is near a
Hi David
Yes, the BL2 will do a fine job for you.
I use one here with my multiband 40m dipole.
Being able to switch between 1:1 and 4:1
ratios is very handy. One band will load
best with the 1:1 setting, while another
band will load better with the 4:1 setting.
Very useful tool. You won't
David ...
The advice you are getting here is right on - the BL-2 should be a very
useful tool in achieving the type of portable antenna you want.
A popular length of dipole for working 40 thru 10 is 44 feet (22 ft per
side). This can be installed either as a flattop or inverted V depending
About a week ago I was transmitting SSB on 20M when the K2 shut
itself down unexpectedly.
I turned it back on and found no error message and all seemed well.
I now realize that I hear no relay clicks on the KAT100 when changing
bands. On 20M I now get a 2:1 SWR, whereas before, I think
You might also compare your 44' doublet by itself and with a 25'
extension on one side, if you have room. That makes it into an OCF, and
the impedance swings will be less extreme than a center-fed 40m dipole,
particularly on 20m. I had a 44' doublet up and found improved
performance. The
I have what seems to me to be a strange condition with my k2100 and
kat100. I have an Antenna on ANT1 and nothing on ANT2 on the KAT100.
On 20 meters only, receiving phone USB, say 14300, if I switch from
Antenna 1 to Antenna 2, there is no discernable difference in
sensitivity or volume.
John,
I had something similar happen to me a couple of days ago. I did not
experience the shut down you noted, but I did see the power setting flash on
the display and then after that when I hit the tune button it would not self
terminate (also did not hear the relays kick on the KAT100).
I did

Don't know about the stores down there. However, Twin Lead is very hard to
find, especially in the populated areas. TV
Hi David
Don't get the cart in front of the horse or sell the KAT1 short. You
may not need a balun!
Build your antenna first and see if the KAT1 has any problems on any of
the bands. If so, try varying the length of the antenna or feed-line in
small increments until you find a combination

Thanks for the speedy reply. The manual is Rev C April 2006.
It is on page 25 and is the second step on the right hand column.

Skip this step if you are aligning an XV432. On an XV50, XV144 or
XV222, verify that the tuning slugs have been removed from the
following inductors. If not,
