Brilliant video. Perhaps Elecraft could have a small library of these for
all those tricky little manoeuvres that would help builders.

Pete,
The heat sink assembly is an extrusion, and may have some warp to it. The
assembly is referenced on a CNC machine to cut the positions of the threaded
rods that have standoffs around them to the same height. The two bosses on
the transistor mounting platform are not considered in this proc

When I Initially set my K2 up and got a feel for
it. I then went in and tweaked the agc alittle at a

Goo evening all,
I am on page 37 of my KPA100 build, getting ready to solder the finals on the
board.
After fitting the circuit board to the heat sink, I noticed that the bodies of
transistors
Q3 and Q4 prevent the circuit board from resting on pedestal standoff shoulder

Recently obtained a new headphone, the Kenwood HS-5. this phone has a
communications range, 150-4000 ohm, and that is a good thing; no hiss, no bass.
It is extremely sensitive, so much so that one must turn the AF gain way down,
to in the order of 8 o'clock, and one must reduce the sidetone to
a quick tug or two through a pinch of 150 grit sandpaper does the same thing
and makes it easier to start the solder blob working. it just breaks the
enamel coating a bit; no need to sand down to a bare wire.

From time to time; it is a good thing to remind my fellow Elecrafters
that the Elecraft Awards Program is still alive and kicking, even though
my mailbox has been real empty as of late.
But especially for those of you who are new to the Elecraft family; the

The video on tinning toroid leads, does point out the ease of doing it by
first scraping even a single bare copper spot on the lead, and then starting
the application of iron heat and solder wire there.
I had not seen this before. He used an Xacto knife blade and one swipe to
start the spot.
Bob,
Unfortunately, that clip requires RealPlayer to view, and I gave up on
RealPlayer a long time ago because of all the ads that it puts up on my
screen at times I want to get real work done.
Something similar in a different movie format would be nice.

Ron is quite correct. I (like the K2 manual) do not recommendation adding
the RF board parts for the K60XV option, even with the rework eliminators.
An even better recommendation - if you have the rework eliminators in hand,
finish the K2 as instructed in the manual, and then when it is test

Hi all,
Just read the rules on this. I have a KX1 (S/N 1128) and plan on
operating using it. If I decide to go to a band that the KX1 does not
cover, am I correct in assuming that I change my exchange to a power
level? Or do I keep using the 01128 per the rules?
Just curious.

Jeff Embry,
My K2 and options arrived in yesterdays mail just three business days
after having ordered it... very fast service... my thanks to Elecraft.
I have updated the manuals with the Errata and am reading them cover to
