The 1 megohm resistance says that it is protected for ESD. Yes, ground

The 3880 signal -MIGHT- be a touch lamp. In my past life as a
power company communications tech I chased line noise and other
intereference sources.
Had a complaint ... from a ham ... about noise on 75M. Took two
crews a bit over a hundred miles to his town, spent condiderable
probably just a little paranoia on my part but:
on the K2 c133 is listed in the manual as a 104 (.1) and states to
bend it down, however the 104's are short and the pad is too large for
this cap, is this still the correct capacitor.

The short answer is NO. SO2R implies receiving while you are

A standard DE9 computer serial cable will do the job.
Unlike the K2, the connector for the computer connection is not shared
with other functions.

Yes, the pads are a bit wide for the cap, but you do have the correct
one. Yes, be certain the top of it is below the 2D connector level by
bending it down or whatever other means you choose to employ.

K3 to my computer serial port. Does the K3 require the use of a null

Serial cable or USB widget is necessary to get the latest firmware
update - it's bound to get better between the time your K3 is packed and
the time you receive it and get it
And you might want a couple of 3.5mm (12/8) stereo audio cables
If you can't find 12/8 connectors, 1/8 will work in a pinch.
