The NR can be used for this sort of thing until a level-based or
content-based squelch is available. This is not a commitment for such
squelch functions!

So. You can't tell when you have turned the knob far enough to
make a change? If you can't tell audibly then why do you need to turn
the knob? The whole point of the knob is to filter out noise or other
stations other than the one which you are working. If you can't

Hi Lyle, Joe,
Yes I have used Norm 1 and Norm 2. It works fairly well but it's not
easy for me as sometimes I hold on too long and usually end up with both
set the same. Others have reported the same problem. A longer hold for
save might help here.

The XFIL button is usable on SSB if you have installed multiple
SSB bandwidth "roofing" filters (e.g. 2.8, 2.4 and 1.8 KHz).

This coming Wednesday evening will be the monthly NAQCC Sprint for September,

Dave,
One of the common problems that cause such "strange happenings" is that
the firmware chip is not fully seated in its socket. It will cause
problems not only with the display, but also with the DDS frequency, so
you may hear receiver noise and a few birdies, but no signals.

Hi Joe
What would be nice feature on the K3 is a proper syllabic squelch. Most
commercial HF radios use a syllabic squelch which only activates on voice
signals. A syllabic squelch ignores most QRM and QRN, even S1 and S2 signals
can be detected with a syllabic squelch.

If the two are the same size, the inductance will be approximately the sum of
the inductances of the separate toroids wound with the same number of turns.
So for two identical cores the inductance will be about double for the same
number of turns. You can see this by calculating the H field from A

Sometimes it's difficult to find things in the paper manual.
I find it much more effective to search for the key words in

Tone encode is set up by holding PI TCH.
Rotate VFO A to select a CTCSS tone
frequency (or the European repeater access
tone, 1750 Hz). Use VFO B to turn tone encode
on (PL TONE) or off (PL OFF).

Hmmm. I don't think there's anything in the menus that allows for setting a
CTCSS tone. Maybe that will be added later.

Interesting stuff, Briyce! I have been using my Blue Racer on the K3 and

What were you hearing that made you come up with the fix? The odd dot that
I hear is not repeatable and not regular.
