Hi all,
I see the lack of crossband A/B switch as a real shortcoming of the K3. I am
used to using the A/B switch for a quick excursion to another band to check
for band conditions. I realize that with crossband *split* operation, full

The PSK decoder's "sweet spot" is closer to 1010 Hz than it is to 1000 Hz.
Your next question is probably," Well, why not move the sweet spot?"
The answer to that is quite lengthy. Trust me, doing so is not tr

Hello Curt!
This K3 works well at home, but I am having some trouble using it at
the KH6LC station...
I don't know of any incorrect assembly step that might result in this.
I'm sending you a private email to see about some steps to take and to
try and help you solve this mystery.

That's it!
The radio has come back to life. I don't remember ever hearing about using

pretty sure the K3 side of things wasn't changed. The one thing I forgot to
mention, of course, was that I was having trouble trying

Is there a difference in the power supplies at the two stations? I had a
very similar bad CW report when I first got my K3 which was due to a
switching power supply that I was using. The note was bad at all power
levels on several bands. I bought an Astron RS-35A and the reports were
good. I s

I would say : signal tracing, as explained in the owner manual. The K2 ist the
perfect rig to do this kind of job : its design and construction are simple and
access to the components is easy. Have a look to the "dirty signal tracing" on
the elecraft site.

Make sure the K3 PITCH value matches the MMTTY MARK value. The rest of your
settings below seem OK. Sometimes, a discrepancy will show up as the two
tones offset from the two yellow lines in the MMTTY FFT display.

Ted,
It has always worked like that. If you previously had VFO A and VFO B
showing different bands, I would think you had a display problem.
Currently even with the KRX3 installed, cross-band operation is not yet
implemented in the current firmware, but is being addressed as a planned

Jim,
The effectiveness of the NB and NR will depend on the type of noise you
encounter - that is why the K3 implements both.
The NB works best on impulse type noise. It will have little effect on
noise that makes more of a 'frying bacon' sound. The way it works is to
detect the noise early i
I have to say, I haven't been able to tell a great deal of difference,
but I think that is because I don't have that kind of noise at my QTH.
I do find NR works really well though :-)
