I've implemented a moving average algorithm that adds a tremendous amount of
realism to the meter. HUGE difference. Also converted to the SM; command to
avoid truncation with CWT enabled.
Big thanks to Joe Subich for his help with the moving average code.

I just completed building my XG2, and would like to check the MDS of

measure the RMS voltage between ground and tip, or ground and ring of
the stereo plug, or does it matter? Your thoughts are appreciated. AD4CJ
I was using the internal wattmeter in the K3. I don't have an external
wattmeter. I hooked the radio up to an oscilloscope today and the power maxes
out between the 60 and 70 watt setting. The scope is an old Tektronix 422 and
the absolute measurements probably aren't that accurate, but the
Not to discourage innovation, but I ran the program and as expected it did
only the meter on the radio already does.
I have spent too many years working with computers to think anything is neat
just because it is done on the computer.
Personally I will not use it, as I don't want to have to start

Yes. I lack the graphics skills to make the one in KComm look as nice, but
as both programs can be run together there is no need for me to anyway. If
you want a nice looking S meter use this one.
If you use the Virtual Seri
Agreed
A calibrated S meter could be useful tool in many other ways.
- Measuring field strength and patterns of antennas.
- Reporting on things like BPL and other radiated and conducted
measurements that seem to be a daily threat on HF. Just knowing they close
to S9 plus plus minus 20 db
Nice work, David!

The BG command does indeed truncate to S9 when CWT is selected. SM does not. I
chose BG because it reports during TX. I'll be switching to SM because the BG
data currently being reported during transmit is either SWR or CMP, depending
on the RF/ALC selection; although the programmer's reference

Does anyone know if the PCB dimensions for the BL1 & BL2 are the same? I

fit in my BL2 enclosure. I looked at the manuals on the Elecraft site,
but found no dimension info for the BL1.

Page 46 of the manual where I turn on the K2, I DO NOT see NO PA PS as
called for in the manual.
When I tap display my voltage has dropped to 11.3 volts. Measured at the

Measuring the voltage at Junction of C77 & R11 I get 74.1 volts which is not

Rod (G3YHM) posted a message proposing a change to 3720 KHz to reduce
continental QRM. Can I have the views of others as it makes no
difference to me what the frequency is.
The original frequency of 3630 KHz was chosen so that we might have been
able to run wider bandwidth modes such as AM and

We managed without too much continental QRM this week.
Topics were:
Memory (band switching) use with the latest firmware.
LP-100 power meters (several stations on the net are now using them)
IF shift when reducing bandwidth on SSB. Suggestion that the centre
frequency should be 1.35 KHz not 1.5
Dave
Thanks for running the Net every Sunday.
I would like to propose a change of frequency for the net.
Down here on the south coast I am clobbered badly by continental QRM.
Can we try around 3.720Mhz, Normally it is much clearer of the continental
traffic.
