Is this a relatively new KPA100, or did you purchase an older kit from

The reason I ask is because the older T/R switch design had elements
that could cause parasitic oscillations near 40 meters, and often was
most noticeable on SSB.

What do you propose for those of us that use the Notch all the time? Should it
just be removed?
If there's this much trouble with toggling through filters on accident,
wouldn't it make more sense to have the tap XFIL button the APF on/off button,

I've been enjoying the APF quite a bit.
My only suggestion, mirroring what some other folks have said, would
be to have it enabled by the "NTCH" button rather than the "XFIL"
button.
I find myself sometimes switching through the different filters when I
really want the APF.

Sorry about the barrage of posts from me. Just playing with my K2/100 #6998.

Generally, when one purchases a product, its value depreciates almost
immediately in a downward spiral. Elecraft is proving that the reverse
can be true. The usability of the K3, terrific from the start,
continues to improve with each new firmware update (I'm discounting the
little setbacks).
Well...might want to compare the solar situation of "Back "in the day"" to
today. Your milage may vary.

I'm a 99.9% CW op too, but 10 W SSB will also amaze you.
Back "in the day" as SSB was first taking root, 10W PEP was a very common
power level. Even us old AM types (I ran a 1950's Viking Ranger) weren't
running much more. My Ranger did 65 watts dc input to the final, which was

Hi Nick,
Because of its small size, the KX1 uses a 3-pole crystal filter. This
filter's opposite sideband suppression could probably be improved with
larger capacitors and an impedance change at either or both ends, but
this would come at the expense of SSB/AM reception.
