This is the signature of a switching power supply. They are everywhere,
and most of them are noise RF noise generators.
Hi John,
thanks for clarification. But i think he meant the adjustment of levels
(KDVR3) for "on the air" playback.
These levels are NOT adjustable, for the monitoring in the headphones or
speakers you are right.

My P3 started displaying persistent clumps of noise across each band. These
clumps reoccurred at about every 72KH over most bands. I thought I had a rig
problem so I emailed Gary at Elecraft. Based on my description of the
problem he concluded the noise was not coming from the K3 or the P3. He

Steve,
Most likely you will not see a difference (unless you spent like 10-30
seconds heating it up with your soldering iron). I don't know which Elecraft
kit you are talking about, but consider this.

It all depends upon how much you change the sound of the audio using the Eq

I got a little ahead of myself while grounding crystals X1, 3 and 5. I
grounded to the sides. Is this a problem. Should I add wire to take the

Hi Michael:
Thanks for helping clarify some of the confusion. Unfortunately, you
have perhaps (inadvertently) added some of your own.

Gene,
I cannot make any recommendation, but the 500k 1/4 watt resistor would
seem a bit high to me. I would go no higher than 100k (50k would be a
good choice IMHO) and would use a 1/2 watt resistor instead.

Hi,
my second K2/10 #7130 now qrv, again great fun to build...
A question; I would like to modify a Bird slug 100B to a 20 watt 2-30
Mhz slug.
I think the main problem is to get the right coil inductance. The 100B
slug is already open.
Can anyone give me some help?

I get that there is still a benefit on fading, but the spreading of
noise and fixing of discrete signals that goes on with no channel
mixing except in the brain has no parallel for working signals in the
noise. With true diversity in separated fading, the signal "walks"

Agreed! Let's face it...if you have a K2 the only way to do better is to get a

No argument Ken! The AF-1 wasn't created as a K2-specific accessory, but as
a useful little filter for any receiver (especially "lesser" receivers
without the K2's filtering) or as an adjunct to simple homebrew receivers. I

Hi Ron,
I did notice the peaking effect, but I didn't think the improvement was all
that profound. Also, the effect of the low pass filter is barely noticeable on
the K2. I sent an e-mail to tech support at Elecraft and was told to use it
with a receiver with a wider audio bandwidth.
