The lowest I can get the current down to is 200 mA. That's in battery saver
mode (LED graph = off, performance = battery, and LCD backlights = day (off).
If I start to turn those options on, I get:
LCD = nite = 240 mA
Opt = Perf = 300 mA
LED = Bar = 320 mA

I am relpying out of "stupidity". The K3 Utility tries to set the ATU
to bypass. If it detects the KAT3, but it does not go into bypass, that
would terminate the procedure.
I suggest that he look at the KAT3 situation first. Once that is
resolved, then other factors will either fal

I have a heavy-ish 73crc knob on my K2, and I prefer the feel with the
felt washer completely removed. It doesn't drift when bumped although it
could be that I have an especially stiff encoder. The finger dimple is

Yes, 16 volts is too high. There is a 15 volt zener diode right at the
DC input of the K3 which should limit the voltage to the K3 at 15 volts
(or until that zener diode is damaged).
The charger may be dropping into the bulk charge output rather than
staying in the trickle charge stat
This sounds like too small a battery for the given charger. Or too
large a charger for the battery.

Yes, you should be concerned. Battery chargers are different from PSUs as
they can easily create a high voltage peak which will destroy any
equipment hooked up to it. I highly recommend not to use the battery when
it is on the charger.

with the power level. I have seen this many times here on 160 with
wet leaves very close to wires, and sometimes touching. I can watch
the SWR vary under a steady 1500 watts, something not seen or far less

A PEP rating higher than CW is always going to be heat related. One
should always inquire about the brick-on-key rating, e.g. the CCS or
Continuous Commercial Service rating. For an Alpha 9500 and 8410 it

In addition, according to the user's manual, the key down time in CW at max
power is ten minutes. I wouldn't want to do that to any of my VHF or UHF
bricks, so it seems to me it's a pretty rugged amp.
