I'm wondering if the unit will offer all features remotely (far end of 100'
coax) if I can enclose it in something weatherproof. Will it require
additional power/control cable(s)?
thanks,

There are various ways to control the KAT500. We'll provide more
details on remote
We have just posted new V1.11 firmware for the KPA500 to the web. See:

Just checking...
I get about 7.6 A at about 62 volts when on 75M putting out about 350 watts.
I get about 0.4 A keyed with no rf input. Is that about right?
Just wondering if these are normal values. A friend on 75M says he can
detect something...on my voice sometimes...when doing about 350 watts
Correct on the Aux bus. However the Auxbus is accessed via the 15 pin
Acc connector in the back, which the KPA500 and KRC2 all want access to.

The best way for your use is to use the Auxbus connection. I have

I must have spent at least 10 minutes trying to figure that one out.
Wouldn't want to hear what Google would sound like on HF!

Mike,
I don't understand the problem with Jack's solution. The AUXBUS signal
can be daisy-chained to the various units that need it. The 15 pin Y
cable provided by Elecraft will provide the capability to daisy-chain
the signals needed. For an example of similar connections, look at

Hi Eric et. al.,
I wonder if it would be possible to have the INHIBIT# enable/disable be
on a per-band basis for the KPA500. That way one could use DIGOUT1 to
disable the amp on a band, say 17m or some band where the antenna SWR is
too high, and to allow it to be enabled on 6m when DIGOUT1 is used
Mike,
The simple solution is two of the Elecraft DB15 Y cables. However,
microHAM only uses pins 1, 4, 5 (FSK, PTT ground) and provides a
pigtail for the Inhibit input if you need it (not likely with the
KPA-500). It would certainly be practical to make a custom Y cable
to connect pins 2 5

I'm just wondering how many that still builds K2's.
I just ordered mine and was wondering if there still are a lot of people out
there that are building K2's or if the K2 building have slowed down due to the
K3 and upcomming KX3.
Even though the K3 is a better transceiver, I chosed the K2
When was the price increase going into affect? I need to order an amp soon.

You can't really have a price increase on something that isn't for sale yet,
can you?

Hi John:
Well, the way I see it... the KX3 is a new product, and it's pricing
will be not affected by any component cost increases that affect a
mature product. The price will be related to current and anticipated
component costs, and factored into the price of the rig. A real
price has
