Jim,
Be more specific on your question. My experiences are:
I HAD a Rig Expert Standard running on the K3 but I dismantled it and is
using a Signalink USB. The Rig Expert is great since it does CAT radio
control using Ham Radio Deluxe however, the RS232 Serial Port was the issue

Don,
If the problem does not exist when transmitting into a dummy load, then
it is related to common mode RF on the coax. OTOH, if it persists with
a dummy load, then it is a K2 problem.

Hi All
Well the suspect coax has been replaced and the problem lives on.
Now I have no idea on what to do to get rid of the problem.
I think its common mode on the coax but now I am not sure. I have to
walk away for awhile and think about what to do next.

Hi Lu,
Why not just tune the K3 to the RF output frequency of the Orion? The
K3's IF output signal is picked off before the crystal filters, so the
P3 shows the actual unfiltered signal received at the K3 antenna
connector.

The signalink USB is redundant, but I have one and use it anyway and I find it

If you protect the P3 input with some back to back diodes, put a piece of
wire on the IF input, dial up the P3 IF to the the freq you wish to
listen to, and the P3
will show you the received signal.
I think the caveat is to protect the input to the P3 or you will burn it
up..

Hi guys.
Even if I like very much HRD I decided to stop with it due to stressing
faults (I really hate) in serial communication that suddenly and frequently
cause AGC going off.
I'm a Mac user and right now I virtualized at it an XP Pro just and only to
run HRD.

I'm really surprised for performance of K3. I have tested majority of

I have found two issue, i need know if is there a workaround.

Windows 7 boots up much faster. However, it is installed on a new computer

Hi Don:
Thanks for the response.
Maybe Im not clear regarding what Im trying to do.
I have a dozen TenTec Orion 1's at a multi multi operation I
play at. Im tasked with "standardizing" the audio
parameters for this operation in regards to compression and
frequency response before CQ WW SSB.
That works very well. I go from the Spkr jack to a Radio Shack amplifier
that goes to two stereo speakers mounted on the wall and pointed at me.
Wonderful audio. I've done this with all my radios for over 10 years.

Hi Jorge,
In the Config menu, you can set VFO IND to yes to allow VFO A and VFO B to be
set on two different bands.

Jorge,
No risk at all, just set CONFIG: VFO IND to "YES" and VFO A can be on a
different band than VFO A.
That is true whether the SubRX is installed (and ON) or not.

Rather than a mod to the K3, May I suggest you build a special cable.
At the K3 end connect a stereo plug, but with both conductors connected
to the tip - the shield still goes to the shell.
Alternately, connect to the Speaker Output jack instead of Line Out
Hello,
when I bought my K3 was no possible to have the SUB in a different band. I
don´t know if this is available now? I couldn´t put the SUB in a different
band.
Just in case I couldn´t setup my SO2R for next weekend, I am thinking to do
SO2V but want the second VFO in a different band.
Hello,
I was among the lucky ones who got to discuss all things Elecraft with Eric

One of the things I brought up was how nice the "voice squelch" on my Icom

Check the current draw of the base K2 (tap DISPLAY) during transmit - it
