Have you made any changes to the radio since last time you used it.
I have the same setup as you, and my MIC gain is set to 17 and the CMP is
also 17. Mine works great.

they show how SignaLink numbers the RJ45 pins. So, if you match the
wiring in the table for the K3 to the numbering scheme for their
RJ45's you should be fine.

until the dial reading is 7.0 MHz, starting from an adjacent band, the dial
reading may be 7 MHz but the K2 filters, etc., will still be switched to the
original band.

Just a hunch, John, but you can tune to 7.0 MHz without the K2 being in the
40-meter band! If you the VFO knob to 7 MHz with the K2 on an adjacent band
the dial reading will keep going, but the K2 filters, etc., are still
sitting on the original band.

I have ear-splitting volume from a pair of non-amplified speakers from Tivoli
Audio (bought for a reasonable price from their outlet store when it was
open). The audio amplifier chip is a 3 watt device so it should be plenty
loud. I once tried a Kenwood SP-930 and that was loud also.

I use a couple of inexpensive, un-amplified "bookshelf" speakers that the K3
will drive hard enough to "knock me out of the room"! No kidding!
They are plugged into the SPKRS jack, not the Phones jack.
I'm quite sure I could blow to bits the transducers in my RS "Nova"
headphones or in my LabTe

What frequency was displayed when CAL PLL started? Did it decrement
enough to flash a "d" at the right of the display? Did you move any of
the knobs or press any of the buttons while CAL PLL was running?
That message actually means that the firmware did not see a frequency

You'd probably get far more useful information from the RFI-reflector
archives. There is lots of information there on all sorts of
RFI-causing devices (water bed heaters, plasma TVs, heating blankets,
fish tank heaters, etc etc etc) and what each one tends to sound like
... or look like on a

when you rotate the beam, can you knock it down with the
front-to-back? Sudden appearance would suggest a single source. If

The 40 pin cabling being plugged wrong raises some flags. You might
want to contact support or call when they open. You can usually remove
the pin blockers with a small screwdriver or pliers

The K3 preamp will be more than adequate, Jim. I made an rx loop based on
G3LNP's refinement of the K9AY (see Oct 2010 QST) and find that no external
preamp is needed.
