-2 band filter board with 40m and 30m installed
-wide tuning range chosen
-no tuner (I have the board built but it is not installed) Jumper

Hi Phil,
My time proven technique to find the source of K3 or P3 behavior
abnormalities is to blame the computer first. Disconnect the serial cable to
your PC then see if the problem still exists.

A year or so ago I had the same problem with #3727. Looked to me like the
brass insert was a bit too tight and stressed the knob.
No problem though since they promptly replaced it.

Assuming that all components are the correct value and are well soldered
(worthy of a double check), then ---
The most likely problem is that the Pre-Mixer bandpass filter is not
tuned to the correct frequency.

KPA500 #618 arrived yesterday afternoon, I put it together this morning

expect), but my 500 Hz filter is centered on 2210 Hz. It turns

In AFSK A, which is really intended for Baudot RTTY only, the normal or

warranty though because I had to pay a nominal fee to get a replacement.

You should call it "OK" - the emitters are closest to the edge of the
board, the collectors are furthermost from the board edge.
If you have questions about transistor basing, turn to the Schematic Key
page in the back of the manual.

I just loaded the P3 Utility on my Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium. When
doing a capture using the utility the capture is shown split in two with the
reference numbers in the middle! The bottom portion of the capture/ screen
is also corrupted.
Is this part of the same bug or a diff

As I recall, there is a reason NR is not available in digital modes - it
distorts the signal and reduces copy capability..
The digital decoding is happy to extract a signal from the noise - some
more so that others, and some data modes can extract a signal
significantly under the noise lev

Yes, the 2N7000 FET is sensitive to static, and could have been damaged
when it was installed.
The receive path will work fine with Q10 removed. If that restores your
K1 to full receive, then replacement is in order.
The specs on the 2N7000 at DigiKey are all the same from my perspective

Ok I've made my boneheaded newbie mistake for this week. I missed one
of the very first steps in the RF board assembly, "Install relay K1."
However I did learn a bit about reading a schematic, and definitely
