I was thinking the same thing. I never go above 15 CMP. Mic is set to 30 and I
easily get 100 watts PEP.
I would think a CMP set to 30 the receiving station could hear spiders crawling
in your room.

After reading everything sent to me, I reviewed my options. The reason I
selected to use a 1:1 current balun instead of a 4:1 balun was based on an
application note from the DX Engineering web site...
You apparently have the new VFO encoder with the PC board that has a few
components on it. Not only the encoder board, but the Control Board
leads in the area indicated must be flush cut (flush with the board).
Your tape will provide a temporary fix, but I suggest you do a good job
of flush
I have been chasing the poor BNC cable issue as well. I have been using the
DeoxIT-D100L product that many suggested. I thought for a while that it was
fixed but the problem has returned inspite of several applications and attempts
to clean both male female connectors.

Hello Peter - I don't have a KX3 as I am not a backpacker, but if it's
the K3 you are referring to, press in the knob to the lower, left of the
main tuning knob to enable the monitor control. Turn it down
accordingly.

It is not feedback - it is the monitor setting. If you are using
headphones, you want a bit of the audio to be present in the headphones,
but when using speakers, you will want to turn the monitor volume to zero.

I have seen this problem several times before and finally decided it's an issue
of interrupted handshaking between the K3 and KPA500. Seems that all

I am installing trimmer caps C13 and C20 on the RF board and having
trouble identifing which way they need to be installed. They are
physically different than the discription in the manual. There is NO
flattened side to them. They look like a round body that has a square
