Elecrafters;
After a quick visit to the software download page today, I only see a Windows
version of the KXPA100 utility. Is there an expected release date for Mac (and
Linux) versions? In particular, the Mac release?

I've done exactly that for the two K3s and two filter sets in my SO2R

Well, I guess that proves that RichRod isn't a bad coach, after all.
He didn't do Michigan any favors, but glad that he's working out well
for you guys.

The K2 sensitivity and receiver noise floor will not change much from

receiver noise may even be more quiet on 160 than on other bands.
You probably should not be using the preamp on 160 unless you have a low

You don't give so much information here about how you did the sidetone pitch

It is worth noting that there are a few parts to solving this problem. Audacity
is a great software package, but it is only needed for the encoding of the file

I uploaded a revised Excel file of K3 and P3 menus that now includes the P3

Todd,
Try Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/about/features. It is
free and multi-platform.
For MP3 files you will also need Lame encoder library.

Fred, perhaps you misunderstood.
To properly use the SDR version of this program, you need to present it with
both I and Q signals (in-phase and quadrature). These would be routed into a
2-channel (stereo) soundcard. So, you need the I/Q output from the K3,
provided by LP-Pan, SoftRock, or similar
Thanks to both of you for your replies, it seems as if a SignaLink may work
with the SDR product going to check this out more.

Hi,
There seems to be an uptick in interest in this concept recently (I have
responded to several E-mails over the last few weeks). I have run my KAT500
remotely in Upstate NY for almost a year now with absolutely no problems due
to temperature or weather. Here is a few pictures:

I know this has been covered once before but I am wondering if anyone has
any further info on using the KPA500 remotely at a vertical antenna base?
The pictures from the previous discussion are no longer available. I am
not seeing much in the archives.
So, here's my dilemma:

Fred,
The webpage for the MRP40-SDR software indicates it is looking for a radio
with IQ signal outputs. The KX3 has this. The K3 does not (natively).
However, a K3 equipped with an XV3(or XV3A), plus an LP-Pan, SoftRock, or
other IF to IQ "baseband" output would seem to be acceptable. (It is also
I have been looking at this software and see they have a SDR version of it,
they list the KX3 as supported but not the K3. It seems that it would be
about the same is anyone using it with their K3 or who have looked at the
product and would comment. Any constructive comments if the K3 is supported
Is there normally high noise on 160m with a K2 ?
Comparing the K2 to an old Ten Tec Delta the
