The K2 sensitivity and receiver noise floor will not change much from band to band. In fact, with proper filter alignment, the internal receiver noise may even be more quiet on 160 than on other bands. You probably should not be using the preamp on 160 unless you have a low noise receiving ante

It's set to Full-Span, and every time I tune off the edge, I get the next full span, up or down. When this anomaly occurs, it is usually [as in almost always] a 5KHz shift. If the left edge was at 1.040, it will become 14.045 and the right edge will become 14.065 I've never seen it actually

Fred, perhaps you misunderstood. To properly use the SDR version of this program, you need to present it with both I and Q signals (in-phase and quadrature). These would be routed into a 2-channel (stereo) soundcard. So, you need the I/Q output from the K3, provided by LP-Pan, SoftRock, or similar
