OK thanks for that bit of info.   Since the KAT500 and KPA500 do not switch to 40M or 160M, I find it odd that both boxes exhibit the same symptoms.   I'd check to see that RF is actually getting to the KPA500 and KAT500 on those 2 bands.  If no RF or inadequate RF level then they won't switch.
