Good to know. I'll try that myself. in face, I have an RS232-logic-level

My KXUSB cable suddenly went QRT a few months ago necessitating getting a
replacement. I initially thought the chip on the board had blown up, but it was
OK. I verified that everything was still good by throwing together a temporary
fix with a USB to 9 pin serial cable and a matching 9 pin to *M

Thanks, Dave. I'll look into that, and ask Elecraft about it.

I had purchased a used KAT500 from someone that it turns out had bought
it from a 'super station', but had never tried to update the firmware or
use the KAT500 utility to talk to the KAT500. After I got it home, I
tried to check the firmware level, only to find out that I could see the

which radio and transverter are you using?
In some transverters, the Local Oscillator drifts with temperature -
sometimes a lot. This is typically more pronounced on the higher bands,
but can be troublesome even on 2m. I used to have the Elecraft external

The KPA1500 has a great tuner. Like all Elecraft amps and tuners, it has
nearly instantaneous automatic frequency detection and band-switching. A
single dit or tap on the mic is all it takes. I used it for years with
nothing but the front panel controls, which consist of a switch between

I know that one of the Fred Cady books I have here shows that hookup
with either the KPA500/KAT500 'power combo' or the KPA1500 w/ATU, so
yes, it is supported.
As far as ATU's go, you should only have the ATU in the unit that is
connected to the coax going to your antenna enabled. All others
Think it through, it is an ANTENNA tuner (matching circuit). You disable all
of them along the path (BYPASS), EXCEPT at the antenna connection.
It is presumptive 50 ohm to 50 ohm resistive at each stage, no tuner required,
except for the antenna.

This question may have been answered in the past.
I have a KX3 and a KPA100, both with ATUs. Can I power up my TX via addition
of a KPA1500, assuming I upgrade my antenna (Buckmaster 300watt OCFD 8 bander)
to the 3000 watt version ? If feasible without risk of blowing up anything,
and ass

Sorry - a Swiss ham beat you to the 700 Hz filter (sorting out the shipping
details now). BTW, I lived in Prague for the better part of 3 years some time
ago (and built a K2 while living there). Great town - and I still have the
radio. ;)

The I-F output samples the signal after the first down conversion but before the
