enty of that adjacent signal spilling over into your dsp passband that's
going to pump your dsp AGC. So at best you will get slight improvement with
the narrower filter but I wonder if it would ever make a difference in copy
ability. A narrow filter just isn't buying you that much in ssb.
1.8Khz roofing filters in ssb contests, I

What does help to copy a weaker signal in the presence of splatter is to

For everyone's info, the stock K3 A vfo knob makes a great K3 B vfo knob as
well.
It DOES fit and many of us have matching vfo knobs on our K3's.

I looked around and just went with Digi-Key P51ACT-ND ("805" size)

The K3 Line Audio Output mod described in
http://www.elecraft.com/K3/mods/K3_AF_Stage_Upgrade_Instructions_Rev_B.pdf
calls for 51-ohm 1/8 watt SMD resistors. Can anyone provide a manufacturer
or Digi-Key part number, or the correct SMD package size?

This seems to come up every year after the ARRL 10M contest. Perhaps an
extra 10dB of i.f. gain on 10M could be programmed into dsp firmware.

Knut, does that Spectrum Lab software allow you to do time averaging for the
plots? If you can average over 500+ samples, it will smooth out the plot
and make it more useful and readable.

APF is very critical (width is only 30hz) and I use the K3's fine vfo tuning
rather than shift. But yes, APF is still working just fine ;-)

Frank, I have made the exact same request for the exact same reason.

I strongly agree. There's a great need for some simple utilities for the K3
that will run with LP-Bridge or other CAT port sharing schemes: AGC/EQ
management, expanded rig display, subrx control (avoid BSET), etc

d try experimental firmware
that significantly raised the max AGC THR value.
And to K6LL: Yes, I too fear loss of weaker signals

It is fundamentally essential to use very high isolation headphones to
achieve K3NA's dynamic range goal (i.e., to hear the weakest and strongest
signals with AGC OFF without kicking in the limiter). It IS achievable.
It's not a matter of sensitivity.

even
signals of greater than an S-unit difference in strength cannot be
discerned. Weak and strong signals are all blended indiscernibly together.

That just seems one
of the very few things the K3 doesn't excel in.

honestly doesn't help much with the pileups. Perhaps
it's just the nature of K3's A/D/A. I've used both the K3 and Orion in
ARRL160 this weekend and my sense is that the similarly rx gain optimized
Orion does a bit better in those situations where there are multiple callers

Try cutting the lower 2 or lower 3 bands of TX EQ.
