Hi all, it's been awhile since I last posted to the reflector. There has been
quite a bit of noise out there about disatifaction with Elecraft Support. Now
I can sympathise with anyone who is experiencing problems with building rigs.
Over a year ago I managed to wreck Two (2) perfectly good K2s

With regards to the XG2, in addition to everything else it can do, can it also
calibrate the main tuning control (VFO)
of tranceivers like the NorCal 40A? I am considering purchasing an XG2 for my
toolbox. I would greatly appreciate information on this.
Dennis Vavra, AD5LY
Don,
Thanks for the info abt the XG2/freq ctr. Could you recommend a make/model freq
ctr for kit blding that is not
too expensive? Iv'e looked at the MFJ web site but if you could recommend
another it would be of help.

and maybe an OHR rig.
While gaining a little more experience and confidence I will probably attempt
to build the K1 in due course. So I am taking a break from inhaling solder
smoke and I'll get to operating CW.

I am interested in purchasing the XG2 test osc/swr cal.
My question...Can the XG2 be utlized on non Elecraft
transceivers, or is it only useful on K1, or K2 etc...?
I would like to try it out on my Ten-Tec QRP rig
and SST.
Dennis Vavra, AD5LY
-Tec before I take the plunge and try the K1 xcvr.

OK Don,
Every other indication and test checks out. I am
building this K2 at a very slow methodical pace.
The thinner gauge solder (0.20in) and new mag lamp
have been a great help.I am moving on to the
thermistor board now!! Many thanks for your
assistance. Dennis Vavra, AD5LY

thanks for info Don, I found prob to be that I soldered C45 (on bottom of

However, during testing the voltage/current display (Pp 43, left column, step

The 2,0.008 portion was fluxuatating. Is this a prob? ..Dennis Vavra AD5LY
