yet.) At some point I may get a second EndFedZ for portable use. At present I
use an MP-1, Buddistick "tuned" (length adjusted to a quarter wave)
"counterpoise", and the KX-1 for casual operation on vacation. For serious
portable work I use
rry.
I think a more robust tuner could probably match those bands as well. An
experiment for another day.

Sorry, the previous attempt to send this had unacceptable formatting embedded
in the text. I don't know how much went through, but so
5 meters. Sorry.

Small correction, guys. When the KX-1 attempts to transmit out of band (and
doesn't),
the display reads "End", not "Error". I was thinking of my VX-2's response
to attempted
out of band transmitting. Sorry.

gest that one should actually
transmit outside the ham bands. When you get far enough outside the ham band
that you get the "Error" message when keying, then you are not transmitting.

Just tune it outside the ham band a few KHz.

I also would like to know about the R11 and R30 mods. Anyone?

For the KX1 just tune outside the ham bands by a few KHz. The unit won't
transmit but the sidetone oscillator still operates. Seems to work great for
a little CW practice. (Some of us need a LOT of CW practice.)
