If you have not looked at this free program, you should. It gives you a
conventional audio spectrum display and a nice waterfall to boot. Controls
are easy, adjustable on the fly. Plus the site has a lot of nifty software
for SDR applications.

When I fired up the K2 today, it was all confused and I had to do a
4-5-6
reset. After the reset I could get no DSP menu so I removed the KDSP and
jumpered the audio lines in order to do the CAL FIL. At that time when I
pressed the AFIL switch I got a "not installed" message as I should. A

As per the K2 documentation (RF signal tracing) make your measurements at
2.0 watts requested power.

I am no expert, but yes I have played with it a bit.
I found everything greatly improved when I carefully aligned my filters
(always with the KDSP2 in bypass) after getting tired of a 650hz sidetone( I
moved it down to 500hz). Afterwards, I tweaked the KDSP2 to the filter

Got a package from Lisa yesterday, assembled the KIO2 and then moved the
KAT100 and the KPA100 to the EC2 enclosure. All the parts were there except
the higher current choke recommended. Wound that one on a spare toroid I had
and the "Twins" are on the air.

Stewart is absolutely correct in his reference to the reassigned pins on the
K2 serial interface. I was not looking pas the rx/tx interface which is
indeed simplicity in itself. I have apologized for my oversight to Stewart.

have written a simple program that does that for you and if you would like

I found that the sw38 thru sw69 commands were indeed pre-positioning the
menu, but needed to be followed by a "Menu", sw05, command to display the
quickmenu selection on the LCD and make the information available to the
control program.

I am a bit mystified by the reports of low power on 30M. I have K2 #4028
and bought my KPA-100 at the time I purchased my K2. Barefoot on 30M, I have
15w out (measured) and QRO a good solid 100W (measured). If I choose to
observe power out in TUNE, the K2 will cut the power to around 55W, b
I will just bet you are using a K2/KPA100. I am not driving a big amp
so it
has not been a real problem but when I enter TUNE with the KPA100 activated,
I will see a fluctuation in output for the first few seconds. The
fluctuation is at a rate of 1 "pulse" per second. After a few seconds i

Pole kits. The tool is of thin steel, shaped (sort of half moon) to fit
around the wire crimped in the power pole connector. It slipped in
underneath the wire and connector releasing the retainer spring inside the

This is off topic, but I recvd mine today and appear to be missing the
assembly instructions. Michelle is mailing some but hate to wait on snail
mail. So if there is a kindly soul out there that happens to be a C3ss user
who has a scanner and could e-mail me the instruction, I would be eter

First a bit of background.
a) The MFJ breaks the audio path from the sound card to the mic unless
PTT
is activated. This is a good thing.
b) The MFJ provides an optically isolated CW keying circuit. This too
is a
good thing.
I have been evaluating CW packages i.e. MixW, CWGet/CWType and MRP40. I
really like MixW but have had a problem with one aspect of the setup. So far
I have not been sucessful in sending CW via the CAT interface. I know CAT is
working because I am able to see the frequency display and I am a
Absolutely Andre'. Piece of cake. Download the Programmer's Reference
from
the Elecraft web site. K24U ( you can google it on the web) is a control
program for the K2 that gives you a free trial if you want to see what some
of the guys have done programming CAT for the K2.

I have an XG-1 and have calibrated my K2 accordingly. Sometimes, I run
without the PREamp and this morning decided to
see what effect that has on S meter readings so I could give more
"reasonable" reports. I know a bunch of you have already
done this but for what its worth:

Howard, I have used the MFJ and like it a lot, however, for me the choice
would be the Micro908. It does more than antenna analysis and has many more
