Did you try B.SET
When the K3S sub-RX is turned on, VFO B does nothing. It's as if it's locked
but unlock doesn't change the situation. Might there be a config setting
that was accidentally changed? I think I've gone through everything and
haven't found a solution. Thank.

Is it possible to have the K3S internal sound card feed the transmitter
audio and also have the line-in jack feeding it at the same time? I use both
the internal sound card and an external sound modem for different data modes
but have to unplug the line-in plug when using the K3S internal sound
Here's a feature request for the next KPA500 firmware update:
Create an option for setting a minimal fan speed that applies only in
"operate" mode. When the amp is in "standby" the fan would be under normal
temperature control. This has the secondary benefit that blind operators

I'm still learning my new K3S and haven't yet figured out CW auto spot. I
have auto spot turned on (tap of the 0 key) and activate auto spot by a tap

with KX3 auto spot, I would expect the VFO frequency to be automatically
No, it's not times that have changed; it's the sunspot cycle that has
changed. QRP for sunspot cycle peaks and QRO for all-time minimums.

Some progress but some new questions. When transmitting at 12 Watts without
the KPA3 engaged, the transmit audio is completely fine. But, once I go to
13 Watts and hear the KPA3 relay engage, the audio distortion is back. I'm
beginning to think I have a CONF setting incorrect or the KPA3 is bad.

I'm running out of USB ports and need a USB hub. It will serve the KUSB for
the KX3, KPA500, and KAT500, as well as a SignaLink and a packet interface.
Do any of you have a recommendation of a good, RF quiet powered hub? Are
there any to avoid? It would be great to be able to power it from the
I'd find this very useful too. If it was possible to set one of the PF buttons

other button and knob could be used to activate a different macro. It would

Wayne,
It's not been asked yet but what about using the K-Pod on the KX3? At first,
that might sound crazy since the KX3 is already very small. But, the
additional macro buttons plus the rocker switch for VFO selection would be
nice features for a KX3.

And there are a lot of good National Traffic System (NTS) nets on 75.
Elecraft rigs are great for NTS too, not just for DX and contest work.

I'm running a KX3 and KXPA100 here. Both are very early units but with the

AS of a few days ago I started getting reports of poor transmit audio from
my KX3. Today I had time for more extensive tests with several stations.
According to these reports, the transmit audio sounds like I'm in an echo
chamber or there is a reverb in the audio path. Lower power, lower mic gain,
on. With a headset,
that usually works fine, but with a desk mike, it will cause reverb.

I'm experiencing the same thing but mostly on 40 meters where the best match

This is puzzling so I'm asking for help. When on the NJ CW net at the bottom
end of 80 meters (3.544 MHz), the KX3 CW sidetone works fine but when I use
the KXPA100 , the sidetone is silent. The CW is being sent as expected, just
no sidetone at all. On all other CW bands, it works as expected.
My KXPA100 arrived yesterday. It's a great amp and very easy to setup and

Set up is PC connected via KUSB to the KXPA100, KXPA100 connected by KXPACBL
to the KX3, and latest firmware on both. When PA Mode is set to on, Amateur

Ken,
You have the SWT19 and SWT27 in the wrong macros, causing the reassignment
to fail. Macro 1 assigns macro 1 to PF1 and macro 2 assigns macro 2 to PF1
rather than alternating so you get the desired toggling. Also, I always end
with the mn255. Try these:
