Ken,
You are likely chasing a bad solder connection - things that change by
themselves is usually an indication of a solder problem.
You are getting
and careful with this one.
If you still have the patience, suggest what I ought to do next.

around 6 volts. Still, the BFO seems to be working, just not getting
anything as far as TP2. Thanks for the help and please keep it coming.

Hi Gang -
I'm building my 2nd K2 and am at the point of Alignment and Test, Part II.
All of the tests and alignment steps through the VCO alignment have been
completed successfully. Everything has been right in the center of the
expected parameters. Then I got to the BFO test. I'm getting a
OK guys, now I need some guidance. I'm building K2 serial number 6625. I
am on page 48 on the manual, Setting the AGC Threshold. I have the RF GAIN
control fully clockwise. The highest voltage reading I can get on pin 5 of
U2 while adjusting R1 is 3.65V. The manual calls for 3.80V. All tests
to build. I built many Heathkits back in the day, up
to and including one of the color TVs. The parts of the K2 are definitely
smaller! And my eyes are lots worse. Thank goodness for magnifying lights.
Thanks in advance for your help with my question.
