I am surprised to have to report that, after a recent order, Elecraft
has become only the second with which I am not completely satisfied (the
first being Andrews Communications in Sydney.) It appears the legendary

Sending radios to ZL is fairly safe, because most of the mail workers
can't read, and the stagecoach that carries the mail has a guy with a
six-shooter to fight off the bandits, so the loss rate is zero.

I have a heavy-ish 73crc knob on my K2, and I prefer the feel with the
felt washer completely removed. It doesn't drift when bumped although it

It is likely that your computer is or was infected with some malware
that allows it to be used as a spam relay.
Get a friend (who has an un-infected PC) to download and burn the "AVG
Rescue CD" from avg dot com (it's free). Boot and scan from the CD and

Yes this is a known problem. After some correspondence with
Gary at Elecraft Support about 6 months ago, we concluded
that it is caused by a software bug in the KSB2 firmware.
The work-around is to leave the meter in ALC mode, which is

The smaller the PLL range, the better the temperature stability. The 10uH
gives better temperature stability, so try for the 9.8 kHz minimum with 10
uH first. If you have a particularly good PLL crystal (there is some
variation in each manufactured batch) then you may need 12 uH to make it

A Soldapullt PT209 desoldering pump can be got from Farnell for less than 10
pounds. The heat comes from your regular soldering iron, and the suck from
the pump. I have had one in use for 25 years and have never found the need
for anything more fancy. You might care to try one out before look

If your MCU FW is older than 2.02A, the KPA100 comes with free MCU and IOC
upgrades to the latest version.
But wait, there's more!
If your KSB2 FW is older than 1.06, you also get a free KSB2 FW upgrade
(refer page 22 in the KPA100 rev c manual). This is required because the ALC
in the old KSB2 F

Copperweld 14AWG or 12 AWG. It has a steel core for strength and copper
cladding for RF conductivity. It is difficult to work with, and apparently can
