I know this thread has been closed ...but ..couldn't resist this one ...So
far I'm happy with the 2K but realize that it, much like an earlier Italian
import could end up as a 7500 Dollar Fiat (Fix It Again Tony).

Hope it isn't bad etiquette to send this to two email lists
I've thought that ExpertAmps and Elecraft should consider some type of

One thought that I have had is breaking the list into two ..one that is

I have found this to be true as well.

Yeah, apparently they prototyped a single tube (can't remember what the
final was) KPA-1500 years ago ..but never went anywhere with it. I have the
KPA500 and an Expert 2k-FA and they both play perfectly with the K3. The
KPA500 is about half the weight, a third the price, and much much quieter.

This email reminded me of something ..I think I may have brought it up on the

I have a K3 line at my home station ...and of course am a real fan. I am often

Pretty much anyone who contests or chases DX regularly on CW. The K3 is
quite popular with us. It really did a number on one of the W1AW/8 ops as I

Good point ..I was only thinking about CAT/multiple antenna control. I use

unless you have 2 sound cards.

You may well be correct. As the sort of endless discussion :) has shown

I would keep a close eye on this. I had a bad issue with attenuation and
rectification using the K3-KPA500 ..only existing when the amp was on and in
operating mode. It turned out to be a bad capacitor in one of the low pass
filters. Sent it back to Elecraft ..and fixed quickly. I'd give
