[Elecraft] Elecraft Support Reply Time

What's the general time it's taking Elecraft support to reply to e-mail queries? Obviously, this has been a crap year, and normal expectations don't apply. 73, Steve NN4X -- Steve Sacco NN4X Narcoossee, FL EL98jh __ Elecraft

[Elecraft] FS: Elecraft K3/100 / KRX 3 sub RX

2013-07-21 Thread Steve Sacco
I am simplifying the station, and unwinding the SO2R functionality which I thought I'd enjoy. Turns out, I'm just not interested (or maybe smart enough?) for that category. The rig has always been used in my air-conditioned, non-smoking shack. It's never been mobile, used at someone else's

Re: [Elecraft] Monitor (OT)

2012-02-12 Thread Steve Sacco
I had a Samsung SyncMaster 24 which was very susceptible to RFI on 80M. It would turn off whenever I transmitted. The antenna is an inverted Vee, less than 1 wavelength from the monitor. I was able to stop this problem by wrapping 6 turns of the AC power cable around a big clamp on ferrite.

[Elecraft] The Believers

2008-01-20 Thread Steve Sacco NN4X
Hi Tom - Thanks for your thoughts. I've renamed the Subject line to split this response from the rest of the TRANSLATION thread. Yes, the 60's...we had the insect name phase, and the animal name phases, among others. Turns out, there's folk group called The Believers

[Elecraft] Dayton 2007 Date? + Orlando Hamcation 2008

2008-01-20 Thread Steve Sacco NN4X
All - Dayton 2007 was in May, correct? Presumably, Elecraft got a boatload of orders. I'll guess (because we haven't been informed) that we'll hit another big lump of orders that they'll be working to satisfy. Also, I see they'll be at the Orlando Hamcation this February (8-10), so if

Hi Tom - Someone can be a believer, or not, and whether you care or not is up to you. However, at the risk of being accused (again) of being on my high horse, we all share a obligation to guide behavior towards something acceptable to our society. Don't you agree? You see someone

Hi Mike - Thanks for your thoughts. Wow. Well...ummm...okay...here goes... I *THOUGHT* I've made my reasons ridiculously clear, SEVERAL times: I would like timely, accurate reporting of the K3's status from Elecraft. That's it! I don't think that's too much to askdo you? The lay a

RE: [Elecraft] TRANSLATION: K3 Subreceiver Status Update

2008-01-18 Thread Steve Sacco
Hi John - Actually (and this may be a shock to The Believers) you might be surprised to know that there seems to be a rather LARGE group of people who agree with me, not only for the TRANSLATION e-mail, but also the OPEN LETTER e-mail which I sent last month. They say so, enthusiastically, in

Doug - Paint removal is now performed virtually, within the DSP. After all, it's only software, and thus, is easy to accomplish. :-) 73, Steve NN4X On 30/12/07 22:58, John Buck kh7t at arrl.net sent: I also noticed that tightening the cover screws tends to peel some of the paint in

I've been licensed since 1977. Never been part of one of these radio cult things. Never drank the Kool-Aid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kool-Aid for those who don't get the reference). I once owned a Ten-Tec Omni VI for a couple of weeks. Sold it: had lots of quirks nobody would talk

Regarding the discussion of the display on the K3, not that anybody asked, but I'm solidly in the I want a larger radio and display camp. Perhaps you could design an interface for the K3 that would let someone hook it up to a 22 inch LCD monitor. Why stop at a 22 monitor? What about

Let's use a bit of logic here: It's not possible to pass judgement on the future resale value of low SN units, except in retrospect. Who knows what the future will bring? Perhaps, for whatever reason, there will be hardware revisions which make the K3 mark II, mark III, etcetera more
