I see from the manual that the P3 uses a "specific command set" to communicate
with the K3,
so presumably there will be no conflict with a Microham Digikeyer for instance
that currently
occupies the K3 RS232 port and would now be connected to the P3 pass through
port.

Back in April there was a discussion about how to adjust the Line In control
for correct
ALC indication when using Data A mode for psk (or in my case K1JT's WSPR), and
the
recommendation was set it so you get 4 bars of ALC, with possibly the 5th bar
occasionally flickering.

It goes without saying that Elecraft have produced an excellent piece of
technology in the K3 but even in
the kit form it doesn't quite have the "I built it" feeling like the other

What are the benefits of using Data-A mode for psk31 as opposed to standard USB.
The manual p29, mentions that DATA mode offers several benefits not available
in SSB modes however
other than automatically setting CMP to 0, I can't see much else happening.
Does Data-A route the signal differently
Rather than a BC station, how about a fairly accurate 10Mhz frequency standard

Just to clarify, I built up the amp last year but never got around to
installing it. So
around December 06 I obtained the upgrade kit and installed that as well and
that's
how things stand at the moment.
However your reply and mention of the new C31
I have just installed a recently constructed KPA100 (including the latest
upgrades)
and appear to have run into the erratic power control problem.
Using Tune + Display and an external LP100 meter, if I request 5w I get 5w out.
Increasing power to 11w so as to engage the pa I also get 11w out -
Have just been doing the resistance checks on a KAT100. Everything appears ok

for U2 pins 3, 12 & 13 where I get no reading whatsoever.
I'm assuming that static has probably killed either U2, U3 or U4 or perhaps all
